Carrot-Inter cultivation

Thinning of excess seedlings has to be done three weeks after sowing. The ideal plant to plant spacing should be of 10 cm to facilitate better tuber growth.

Weeding should be done at regular intervals to keep down the weeds. Shallow hoeing is necessary to facilitate root growth.

The second dose of fertilizer has to be applied in one month after transplanting.

When the root starts growing, earthing up should be done. This is found to increase tuber yield. And it will prevent greening of roots.

Irrigate immediately after sowing and subsequent irrigations are given at an interval of 10-15 days depending upon the season and soil conditions.
