Gooseberry- Variety information

Chambakad Large: It is a variety identified from the rain shadow regions of Western Ghats of Kerala. The fruits are large and are recommended for cultivation in Kerala.

Banarasi: It is a variety of gooseberry recommended for cultivation in Kerala. Trees are having upright growth habit. The fruits are large in size flattened oblong with smooth skin, yellowish with characteristic three raised segments. Average fruit weighs 38g. It is a shy bearer.

Krishna (NA–4): It is a variety of gooseberry developed from Narendra Deva Agricultural. University, Faizabad.  It is a chance seedling of Banarasi variety. The fruits are medium to large size (40 g) conical, angular, smooth yellowish with red blush on the exposed surface. It has fibreless flesh which is semi-transparent and hard. It is a moderate bearer.

Kanchan (NA-5): It is a variety of gooseberry developed from Narendra Deva Agricultural. University, Faizabad. It is supposed to be a chance seedling of Chakaiya. A profuse bearer with small to medium -sized fruits (32g). The fruits are flattened oblong; skin is smooth, yellowish in colour.
