Nutmeg-Inter cultivation

Remove the weeds around the plants at periodic intervals.

Provide shade for young plants to protect against sun scorch.

Permanent shade trees are to be planted when the site is on hilly slopes and when nutmeg is grown as a monocrop.

The first split dose of fertilizer has to be applied in May-June.  The second dose has to apply in September-October.

Application of borax @ 50 gram/tree is recommended in case of fruit fall.

Mulching the base of plant is recommended during summer.

Apply 10 kg cattle manure or compost per seedling during the first year. Increase the quantity gradually till a well grown tree of 15 years and above receives 50 kg of organic manures per year.

Irrigation is given once in 5 – 7 days during summer months. 200 litre of water per tree is required.
