Tamarind-Harvest and storage

Tamarind plants raised from seedlings start to yield in around 8-10 years. In case of grafts and budded seedlings, yielding starts after 4-5 years. Stabilized yield is obtained from 9-10 years onwards.

Harvesting is done from January to April. The pods are harvested by shaking the branches. There is also a tendency of alternate bearing noticed in tamarind.
