Tuberose- Planting activities

Tuberose is propagation by bulbs. Boat shaped bulbs of size 2 to 3 cm are preferred for planting. About 50000 to 60000 bulbs (320 to 360 kg) are required for planting one acre.

Porous, well-drained sandy loam soils are best suited for tuberose cultivation. Best time for planting is May-July.

Land is prepared well by ploughing two or three times. Organic manure @ 120 kg/cent is recommended at planting time.

The bulbs preferably those of size 2-5 cm or above are to be planted at a depth of 7-10 cm. The recommended spacing is 20 cm x 25 cm.

The first dose of fertilizers has to be applied at the time of planting.
