Rice Fertilizer information Kuttanad area
The nutrient recommendation for Rice grown in wetlands of Kuttanad for high yielding variety of duration 120-140 days is 90:45:15 kg NPK/ha. The quantity of straight fertilizers to get the above dose is worked out for a cent and acre.
The fertilizers dose needed is 781 gram urea, 999 gram rock phosphate and 100 gram Muriate of Potash respectively for a cent. The corresponding quantity for an acre is 78.1 kg urea, 99.9 kg rock phosphate and 10.0 kg Muriate of Potash. The fertilizers have to be applied in split doses.
The first split has to be applied at the time of planting. The urea, rock phosphate, Muriate of Potash needed at this time is 258 gram, 999 gram, 50 gram respectively for a cent.
The corresponding quantity for an acre is 25.8 kg urea, 99.9 kg rock phosphate and 5.0 kg Muriate of Potash respectively.
The second dose has to apply in active tillering stage and the dosage is 258 gram urea for a cent. And for an acre the quantity is 25.8 kg urea.
The third dose has to be applied at panicle initiation stage. The fertilizer dose is 258 gram urea and 50 gram Muriate of Potash respectively for a cent. And for an acre the quantity is 25.8 kg urea and 5.0 kg Muriate of Potash.
In case of farmers using Factomphos, the basal fertilizer needed for an acre will be Factomphos 100 kg and Muriate of Potash 5 kg. In such case only 19.26 kg of urea is needed for the second dose and 19.26 kg urea for the third dose for an acre. The quantity of Muriate of Potash for the third dose remains the same (5 kg/ acre).
Lime or dolomite has to be applied in acid soils two weeks ahead of fertilizer application. Organic manure @ 20 kg/cent is recommended at planting time.
