Radish- Planting activities

Radish is propagated through seeds. The recommended seed rate is 2.8 to 3.2 kg/acre. The best season of growing is June to January in high ranges. It is a direct sown crop.

The land is prepared well by thorough ploughing or digging. Lime or dolomite @ 1-3 Kg/cent has to be applied depending on soil acidity. This should be followed by adding organic manure @ 80 kg/cent.

Ridges of about 20 cm height are taken at 45 cm apart. The seed is mixed with fine sand and sown in rows. The ideal plant to plant spacing is 10 cm apart on the rows.

Apply recommended basal dose of fertilizers at the time of planting. A time lag of ten days should be given between application of lime and fertilizers.
