Local variety

The nutrient recommendation for local variety of rice grown in upland is 40:20:20 kg NPK/ha. The quantity of straight fertilizers to get the above dose is worked out for a cent and acre.

The fertilizers dose needed is 347 gram urea, 444 gram rock phosphate and 134 gram Muriate of Potash respectively for a cent. The corresponding quantity for an acre is 34.7 kg urea, 44.4 kg rock phosphate and 13.4 kg Muriate of Potash. The fertilizers have to be applied in split doses.

The first split has to be applied at the time of planting. The urea, rock phosphate, Muriate of Potash needed at this time is 115 gram, 444 gram, 67 gram respectively for a cent.

The corresponding quantity for an acre is 11.5 kg urea, 44.4 kg rock phosphate and 6.7 kg Muriate of Potash respectively.

The second dose has to apply in active tillering stage and the dosage is 115 gram urea for a cent. And for an acre the quantity is 11.5 kg urea.

The third dose has to be applied at panicle initiation stage. The fertilizer dose is 115 gram urea and 67 gram Muriate of Potash respectively per cent. And for an acre the quantity is 11.5 kg urea and 6.7 kg Muriate of Potash.

In case of farmers using Factomphos, the basal fertilizer needed for an acre will be Factomphos 44.4 kg and Muriate of Potash 6.7 kg. In such case only 8.56 kg of urea is needed for the second dose and 8.56 kg urea for the third dose for an acre. The quantity of Muriate of Potash for the third dose remains the same (6.7 kg/ acre).

Lime or dolomite has to be applied in acid soils two weeks ahead of fertilizer application. Organic manure @ 20 kg/cent (2000 Kg/acre) is recommended at planting time.

Short Duration Variety (Duration < 120 days)

The nutrient recommendation for Upland Rice of HYV with duration less than 120 days is 60:30:30 kg NPK/ha. The quantity of straight fertilizers to get the above dose is worked out for a cent and acre.

The fertilizers dose needed is 521 gram urea, 666 gram rock phosphate and 200 gram Muriate of Potash respectively for a cent. The corresponding quantity for an acre is 52.1 kg urea, 66.6 kg rock phosphate and 20.0 kg Muriate of Potash. The fertilizers have to be applied in split doses.

The first split has to be applied at the time of planting. The urea, rock phosphate, Muriate of Potash needed at this time is 172 gram, 666 gram, 100 gram respectively for a cent. The corresponding quantity for an acre is 17.2 kg urea, 66.6 kg rock phosphate and 10.0 kg Muriate of Potash respectively.

The second dose has to apply in active tillering stage and the dosage is 172 gram urea. And for an acre the quantity is 17.2 kg urea.
