Arka Harit: High yielding variety released from the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore. Duration is 100-110 days. Stem is thin and with light green, deeply lobed foliage. Fruits are spindle shaped, skin is glossy green, and without tubercles. Average yield is 12 t/ha.
Preethi: High yielding variety released from College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara (KAU). Crop duration 4-5 months. Medium sized greenish white fruits. Fruits 30 cm length and 310 gm weight. Relatively less susceptible to fruit fly attack. Yield 25 t/ha.
Priya: High yielding variety released from College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara (KAU). Crop duration 90-115 days. Fruits are long and green with the distal end being greenish white in colour. Fruits 39 cm length and 235 gm weight. Yield 20-30 t/ha.
Priyanka: High yielding variety released from SBS, Tiruvalla. Crop duration 4-5 months. Fruits are greenish white in colour. Thick fleshy area. Fruits 25 cm length and 300 gm weight. Resistant to powdery mildew disease. Priyanka is recommended for acid alluvial soils of Kerala. Yield 28 t/ha. Good cooking quality.
