Green pea- Variety information
Bonnevilla: It is an introduced variety from USA recommended for cultivation in Kerala. It takes 65-70 days for first flowering. Plant medium tall (60 cm), flowers are mostly borne in doubles; pods are light green, straight, big (9 cm) with 6-7 well-filled, sweet, bold and wrinkled seeds. Flowers appear in 13-15 th nodes. It is susceptible to powdery mildew disease. Average pod yield 9 t/ha with 45% shelling.
Markserbsen: It is a variety of green pea recommended for cultivation in Kerala. It is a short duration variety. The variety contains long green pods each containing 7-8 kernels. The variety is suitable for canning.
