Kasthuri: It is a variety of Kacholam released from Collage of Horticulture, Vellanikkara (KAU).  The plants are robust in appearance. The plants have more number of leaves and they are of big size. The rhizome is light brown and larger in size. Dry rhizome yield 900 kg/acre. The rhizome has good aroma and flavour.

Rajani: It is a variety of Kacholam released from collage of Horticulture, Vellanikkara (KAU).  The plant has fewer and small leaves. The rhizomes are more in number, medium bold and creamy white in color. Dry rhizome yield 870 kg/acre. The rhizome has good aroma and flavour. The oleoresin content is 7.68% and is the highest.
