Soil amendments – Dolomite
Dolomite is a naturally occurring rock containing calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. Good quality dolomite contains 22% calcium and 12% magnesium. It is good for acid soils where supplies of calcium and magnesium are low.
The neutralizing value of dolomite is 109. That means instead of using 109 gram of lime stone (Calcium carbonate), 100 gram of Dolomite is enough. Similarly, instead of using 179 gram Dolomite only 109 gram Calcium oxide is needed.
