Tomato-Harvest and storage
Tomato will reach harvesting stage within 2 months after transplanting. The fruit will take around 8-12 days to reach harvest maturity.
Mature green fruits are generally harvested for the distant markets. Tomato with pink or red colour at the blossom end is picked for local market.
Fully ripe fruits have maximum colour development. In these fruits, starch will be converted to sugars. They are generally consumed fresh or used for canning and processing purpose.
Tomatoes are harvested manually by plucking the fruits at different maturity stages.
