Vetiver is propagated through slips. June-July is the optimum period for planting.

The land is prepared well by thorough ploughing or digging. Organic manure @ 20 kg/cent is applied at the time of land preparation.

The planting is done in ridges or beds of convenient. Slips are planted in two rows on 1 m wide beds.

The basal fertilizers have to be applied at planting time.
